Begin in the historic Old Town Square, home to the famous Astronomical Clock, which has been delighting visitors since the 15th century. Every hour crowds gather to watch the small mechanical figures perform their charming procession.

From here, stroll through the narrow medieval lanes towards the iconic Charles Bridge. Dating back to the 14th century, this historic bridge is lined with statues of saints and offers wonderful views across the Vltava River towards the castle district.

Crossing the bridge brings you to the charming quarter of Malá Strana before climbing gently towards the magnificent Prague Castle, one of the largest castle complexes in the world. Within the grounds you will find the striking St. Vitus Cathedral, whose Gothic spires dominate the city skyline.

Spend the afternoon exploring the picturesque streets, relaxing in a riverside café or perhaps taking an optional boat cruise along the Vltava River to see the city from a different perspective.

After breakfast, make your way to the station for your scenic rail journey to Vienna, the elegant capital of Austria. The journey takes approximately four hours and passes through picturesque countryside.

Once the capital of the powerful Habsburg Empire, Vienna remains one of Europe’s most elegant cities, famous for its grand architecture, musical heritage and refined café culture. On arrival, make your way to your hotel for a two night stay.

You might spend the afternoon enjoying a walk along the famous Ringstrasse, the grand boulevard that encircles the historic centre and showcases many of Vienna’s most impressive buildings.

Back in the city centre, visit the impressive St. Stephen's Cathedral, with its colourful tiled roof and towering spire.

No visit would be complete without experiencing the city’s legendary coffee house culture. Relax with coffee and a slice of Sachertorte in one of the historic cafés that once hosted artists, composers and philosophers.

This evening you may wish to attend a classical concert celebrating the music of Mozart and Strauss.

This morning continue your journey by train to the Hungarian capital, Budapest. The journey takes approximately two and a half hours and follows the beautiful Danube River valley for part of the route.

Budapest is often described as the ‘Paris of the East’, famous for its dramatic architecture, grand boulevards and beautiful setting along the Danube River.

Spend the afternoon exploring the Pest side of the city where you will find lively shopping streets, cafés and historic landmarks. A highlight is the spectacular Hungarian Parliament Building, one of the largest and most impressive parliament buildings in the world.

In the evening, enjoy dinner overlooking the river as the city’s landmarks become beautifully illuminated.

Today explore the historic sights of Budapest.

Cross the famous Chain Bridge to the Buda side of the city and visit the historic Buda Castle, which overlooks the river. Nearby you will find the fairytale-like Fisherman's Bastion, offering some of the best panoramic views of Budapest and the Danube.

Budapest is also famous for its thermal bath culture, a tradition dating back centuries. You may wish to spend part of the afternoon relaxing in one of the city’s historic bathhouses.

For your final evening, a dinner cruise along the Danube is a wonderful way to admire Budapest’s illuminated landmarks including the Parliament, Chain Bridge and castle district.

Depending on your flight time, you may have some free time to enjoy a final glimpse of Budapest. Perhaps take a leisurely stroll along the banks of the beautiful Danube River or relax in one of the city’s elegant cafés as you soak up the atmosphere one last time.

When the time is right, you will be transferred to the airport for your return flight to the UK.

Spring (April to June) and autumn (September to October) are often considered the best times to travel, with mild temperatures, fewer crowds and ideal conditions for sightseeing.
