    Finland overview

Located in Northern Europe, Finland boasts a past that dates back to ancient times when the indigenous Sami people first settled there. Over the years, Finland has been shaped by neighbouring countries Sweden and Russia, resulting in a unique blend of Nordic and Slavic cultures.

Modern Finland is celebrated for its vibrant art scene, stunning landscapes and its love of saunas. The perfect place to see the Northern Lights, visit Santa Claus and celebrate the summer solstice, Finland offers holidaymakers some unique travel experiences that make for a truly unforgettable adventure.

    What to eat

Finland’s cuisine offers a unique and delicious gastronomic experience that reflects the country’s natural bounty and rich cultural heritage.

A common staple of Finnish food is rye bread topped with butter and various spreads like herring, cheese or cold cuts. Due to Finland’s proximity to the Baltic Sea, seafood plays an important part of their cuisine. Try their Kalakeitto, a creamy fish soup with vegetables, or Lohikeitto a salmon and potato soup. If you’re feeling more adventurous, try dishes like Silakka (herring) or Graavilohi (cured salmon).

If you prefer meat, then there are plenty of options for you, why not try Karjalanpaisti, a hearty stew made with delicious beef and vegetables.

Known for its simple, hearty and locally sourced ingredients, Finnish cuisine is a treat for your taste buds.
