When to Go
Albania's Adriatic and Ionian coastline enjoys a warm Mediterranean climate, with a long summer season and mild spring and autumn months well suited to combining beaches with the country's remarkable ancient ruins and mountain scenery. Peak: Jun–Aug
The best time for Albania's beautiful beaches along the Riviera, with clear seas and long sunny days. Saranda, Ksamil, and the bay of Vlora are at their most inviting. Book ahead as this remains a rapidly growing destination.
Shoulder: Apr–May & Sep–Oct
Warm and comfortable temperatures ideal for exploring Berat and Gjirokaster (both UNESCO World Heritage Sites), the ancient city of Butrint, and the Albanian Alps. Far fewer visitors than the summer months.
Off-season: Nov–Mar
Cool and quieter, with Tirana remaining a worthwhile city break destination year-round. The mountain regions see snow in winter, with emerging ski resorts around Valbona and Theth.
