A vibrant cultural hub blending beaches, historic sights and a buzzing food and nightlife scene.
Located in southern Andalusia, the Costa del Sol is shaped by centuries of history, with influences from the Phoenicians, Romans and Moors still visible today. From ancient ruins to impressive fortresses, the region offers a fascinating glimpse into Spain’s past at every turn.
Today, that rich heritage blends seamlessly with a vibrant modern culture. As the birthplace of flamenco, Andalusia is alive with music, dance and passion, while cities like Málaga showcase world-class art, including works by Pablo Picasso. Throughout the year, colourful festivals and traditional fiestas bring the streets to life, offering visitors a true taste of local culture.
The Costa del Sol lives up to its name, offering over 300 days of sunshine a year and a typically Mediterranean climate of hot summers and mild winters. It’s a destination you can enjoy at almost any time of year.
Spring (15–22°C) and autumn (19–25°C) are perfect for sightseeing, outdoor dining and exploring the region at a relaxed pace. Summer is reliably hot and sunny, with temperatures often reaching 30°C and beyond, ideal for beach breaks and all-inclusive holidays.
Winters remain mild, with daytime temperatures around 15–20°C. While there is a little more rainfall, it’s still a great option if you’re looking to escape colder UK weather.
Food is a big part of life on the Costa del Sol, with a mix of traditional Andalusian flavours and well-loved Spanish classics. From fresh seafood to vibrant tapas, there’s something to suit every taste.
Local specialities include pescaíto frito, a classic dish of lightly fried fish served fresh along the coast, as well as favourites like paella, gazpacho and gambas al ajillo. Tapas culture is at the heart of dining here, making it easy to sample a variety of dishes in one meal.
For something sweet, don’t miss churros dipped in rich hot chocolate, best enjoyed in a local café. Alongside great food, you’ll also find a wide range of international restaurants, giving you plenty of choice throughout your stay.
