Today you will head to Chimp Eden. The Jane Goodall Institute (JGI) South Africa Chimpanzee Sanctuary is home to chimps that have been misplaced from their natural habitats in Africa.

The goal of the chimpanzee sanctuary is to rescue chimpanzees that have survived the bushmeat trade, been orphaned, traded in the illegal pet market, or rescued from being traumatised for entertainment in circuses, beach resorts and nightclubs. Visitors have a unique opportunity to see chimpanzees in semi-wild enclosures. The chimps show normal social interaction and behavioral patterns despite their traumatic backgrounds as pets, entertainment animals and victims of the bushmeat trade. The enclosures also have viewpoints overlooking the forest and ‘foraging areas’ These areas provide the chimps with endless hours of fun, safe from human intervention and positively reinforce their natural behaviour.

Today you will have a cultural experience and visit a cultural village. At the heart of the cultural village, are two Swazi villages which are authentic and alive with cultural activities.

A traditional African village is organized around family relationships and creates household activity areas and places for special occasions. You can wander through the village with its many huts. Traditional African crops are cultivated, the Nguni cattle herd can be seen, traditional food is prepared and ancient crafts will be practiced.

In the afternoon you will go on an afternoon game drive in the Kruger National Park. Return to the lodge for dinner.

Today it is time to say goodbye and head back to Johannesburg Airport for your overnight flight back home.
