Cruises are for everyone
All though not completely gone, the days when cruises were synonymous with the Queen, deck quoits and formality are numbered – there is now a cruise for everyone. Of course, you may want to delve into nostalgia, with formal dining options and beautifully crafted ships, but Royal Caribbean’s ‘floating resorts’ also offer rock climbing walls, surf simulators and ice rinks, catering for other tastes too.
No other way to see so much in so few days
A record-breaking £1.9 million people took to the ocean for their holidays last year with almost half leaving from UK ports, according to the Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA).
Why do people love cruises so much? Because it provides the opportunity to visit multiple tourist hot spots in one trip, enjoy gourmet cuisine and all in the luxury of a ship that offers everything the heart desires.
For example, a Western Med cruise will take you from the Gaudi culture of Barcelona to flamenco in Mallorca, then off to the cosmopolitan port of Marseille, steeped in 1500 years of history. You’ll be whisked off to prop up the tower of Pisa in Florence and then follow in the steps of gladiators in Rome – surely a globe trotter’s heaven.
On the other end of the scale are transatlantic cruises to New York – a once in a lifetime journey. You can dip your toe in the water with a weekend cruise or travel the world if you wish.

No money. Maximum food. Hundreds of memories.
When you arrive at the port your first impression of the ship will be how incredibly imposing she is, dominating the landscape: making you feel quite ant-like.
Once onboard, you’ll have no need for money, as you’ll carry a cruise card and most cruises are all-inclusive. Look out for offers that include extra onboard spend so that you can treat yourself to some added extras.
There are a variety of cruise types, some aimed at sheer luxurious indulgence and formality, some buffet-style informality and those that sit in between. No matter which cruise you choose, you will be spoilt for choice when it comes to dining experiences, activities, entertainment, shopping and relaxation. With multiple decks to explore, you will never utter the word ‘bored’ when sculpting ice, learning the chef’s techniques, watching a Cirque Du Soleil performance, taking a dip or learning to surf.
You’ll dock at many ports and be given a time to disembark and when you need to back for, allowing you time to take in the many scenic, cultural and awe-inspiring countries on your itinerary.
