Ibiza – Holiday Destination Information

Key Information: Ibiza is one of the Balearic Islands in the Mediterranean Sea. It’s known for its great party atmosphere and lively nightlife, as well as its beaches and great weather.

As of 1st July 2016, all visitors to Ibiza will have to pay a 'Balearics Sustainable Tourism Tax', you can read more information on this goverment imposed tax here

Weather: Ibiza has great holiday weather, that’s why it’s such a popular holiday destination. In its warmest month, August, the average temperature is a toasty 26°C. Even in its coolest months, December-March, the temperature sits at around 13°C. The annual average temperature is 18.3°C. Ibiza’s wettest month is October with 54mm of rain over 8 days. Ibiza doesn’t get very large amounts of rain and during high season it only experiences an average of 9mm over 3 days.

Flight Time: Direct flights from London to Ibiza take around 2.5 hours.

Time Difference: Ibiza is 1 hour ahead of UK time.

Currency: Euro (€)

Fun Fact: Legend has it that Nostradamus predicted that Ibiza would be the only place to survive an impending nuclear holocaust!

Top Tip: Don’t drink the hotel tap water whilst on holiday in Ibiza – to keep things cheap you can refill large water containers/bottles at drinking water stations in different locations around Ibiza.

Where to Go on Your Ibiza Holiday

There are so many beautiful and exciting places to visit in Ibiza; this is no doubt due to the popularity it has earned as a holiday destination over the years. You may find it difficult to choose from the many fun locations to spend time in during your holiday that are dotted around Ibiza, here are our top recommendations:

  • Amnesia Nightclub – This is possibly the best nightclub in Ibiza, maybe even one of the best in the world, and if you’re looking for the crazy and exciting atmosphere that Ibiza nightlife has to offer, this is where you’ll find it. It is a huge venue with bright lights and blaring music, it’s definitely worth checking out during your Ibiza holiday.

  • Cala Jondal – If the insane atmospheres of Ibiza’s nightclubs aren’t your type of thing then maybe relaxing on the calmest beach in Ibiza might be more your kind of holiday activity? The sea is very clear, the sun is very prominent and the entire beach is extraordinarily stress relieving, and you don’t have to worry about keeping things cheap and this won’t cost a penny.

  • Es Vadra – This is a small uninhabited island on the south-western seaboard of Ibiza. It is 400m tall and visiting Es Vadra will allow you to see the Ibiza sunset in all of its beautiful glory, how relaxing.

Holiday Activities in Ibiza

A pretty Balearic Island wrapped in a continuous ribbon of golden sand, there is far more to Ibiza than A-list DJs and the Bora Bora Beach club. Ibiza holidays offer the chance to experience the locality and famous tapas bars of Ibiza Old Town. For those who want a quiet and relaxed holiday in Ibiza, you can explore the UNESCO World Heritage site or discover hidden sandy coves and stunning cliffs. At sleepy resorts like Portinatx, there is a tour train which takes you on a journey through the beautiful hills and valleys of Ibiza. Last minute holidays to Ibiza booked out of season can be particularly rewarding. With the clubs closed and the beaches empty, you can enjoy traditional exploits such as eating a locally-caught seafood platter at the pretty San Antonio marina, or watching the catch being brought in at the cobbled harbour of Ibiza Town. Cala San Vincente is another popular spot for seafood gourmands.

If you prefer to steer clear of all-inclusive high-rise hotels, Ibiza holidays offer a range of other options, from villas in Puerto San Miguel, on the unspoilt north coast, to romantic boutique hotel breaks in Ibiza Town. Santa Eulalia is highly recommended if you prefer to eat out than dine in as it is the island’s gastronomic capital. Close to Ibiza Town but away from the main party beaches, the powdery-soft beaches, safe waters and cultural attractions make this a favourite destination for families who enjoy eating at a wide range of Spanish and cosmopolitan restaurants.

For those who want a peaceful beach break that’s not too far from the nightclubs, we also recommend you look at all-inclusive Ibiza holidays in Es Cala, Talamanca, Figueretas and Playa Codolar.

How to Get There

Because Ibiza is such a popular holiday destination most airports in the UK have flights travelling directly to the island so getting there should be no trouble. Direct flights are often cheap and work out quicker than travelling indirectly so this is our recommendation for travelling to your Ibiza holiday.
