Cheap Flights and Airline Tickets
If you can’t find the cheap package holiday you want, or prefer a more customised approach to your holiday, you can book the flight and accommodation separately. While this can take a bit more planning, you can make significant savings. At Co-operative Travel we have flights from all the major operators and can offer some great rates on flights throughout the year, to destinations all around the world.
Getting the best cheap flights requires flexibility and forward planning. For example, flights to popular destinations tend to booked up more at weekends than mid-week. So you’ll tend to find the cheapest flight tickets Tuesday to Thursday, when fewer seats are sold.
When booking low cost flights, be flexible which airport you book flights from. Don’t just look at local international airports for flight offers; especially if you live somewhere like Gatwick or Heathrow. Instead, consider one of the secondary airports. Remember, though, that while flights to or from minor airports can cost less, you will have to factor in travel costs. On the other hand, parking is generally a lot cheaper too!
When buying cheap flight tickets, you should compare airlines on a like-for-like basis; for example, many websites will include baggage allowance, whilst others will not - which means you can see some fairly large price differences. We recommend you make sure you fully understand what is included in the overall flight costing you are shown if you are trying to compare prices and as always, if you're not sure, please give us a call and we'll be happy to help. Some flight deals might seem a bit more expensive than the low budget flights, but offer more in the way of home comforts – for example more leg-room, and complementary meals and in-flight entertainment. If you’re booking flights to the US or Australia, price may not be the only consideration.
People automatically look to the budget carriers when booking cheap flight tickets. However, don’t assume budget flights always mean budget airlines. Major carriers are increasingly offering cheap airline tickets to popular destinations, and if can find flights to and from your resort, which match your accommodation booking, these offer a number of benefits, especially if you’re travelling with children. For example, traditional carriers are much better equipped to get you onto another flight if your plane is cancelled or delayed. Budget airlines rarely offer this level of service.
