Holidays to Cala Bona

The resort of Cala Bona is part of the municipal district of Son Servera, which lies on Majorca’s quieter east coast. If taking a transfer by coach from Son Sant Joan International airport at Palma, the 65km journey will take around 2 hours.

Cala Bona is not a purpose built holiday resort; rather, it is a small, traditional fishing village that has grown and had to adapt to cater for the large number of tourists visiting the island. However, it has retained its original narrow streets (which can be a little difficult to navigate unless you’re used to them), along with a small working harbour, around which are a wide range of cafes and bars to choose from. Whilst many of the other resorts on the island have developed a German feel, Cala Bona remains a favourite amongst the Brits.

Once you start to move away from the larger hotels, the town itself doesn’t offer much in the way of attractions for active families; however there is a glorious sandy beach on which to relax and sunbathe. Kids can build sandcastles and play in the sea, whilst parents enjoy the sunshine. It is also possible to make the 15 minute walk along the promenade from the harbour at Cala Bona to its more lively neighbouring resort, Cala Miller .

As it is a small town, public transport is fairly limited, so if you do wish to get out and about and see a bit more of the island, it may be a good idea to consider hiring a car.

In terms of evening entertainment, it is usually hotel based. For those with younger children or who prefer it quiet, you can rest assured that Cala Bona is not rowdy at night-time.

If you’re seeking a relaxing holiday, with plenty of sun, sea and sand, Cala Bona is the place for you.
