Our cooptravel.co.uk ethics are simple: to do business in a way that benefits everyone, creating a better, fairer world.
By making a small voluntary donation of just £2 each time you book a holiday with us, you are supporting the Coop Travel ethics of sustainable tourism, as well as improving the quality of life for thousands of people in the UK and abroad. Part of your contribution to cooptravel.co.uk helps to support local and national charities such as Mencap and Enable Scotland. The rest goes the Travel Foundation, an independent charity whose goal is to encourage travel companies to manage outbound tourism in a more sustainable fashion.
In 2007 the Co-op Travel ethics strategy was launched, and since then we have actively supported the Travel Foundation’s goals of protecting the environment and wellbeing of local communities in tourist destinations, thus enriching the holiday experience. Thanks to your generosity, we have been able to launch our own sustainable tourism projects in several areas. Cooptravel.co.uk ethics also cover the area of carbon emissions, both by offering members free carbon offsets on their holiday flights, and increasing the range of rail holidays on offer.
As a promoter of all things Fairtrade, and the lead sponsor of Brownhills Co-operative Academy, we at Coop Travel want our ethics message to reach to the furthest corners of the globe. Part of our Coop Travel ethics program included the launch of a unique sustainable travel initiative for schools, to show young people how to become the responsible travellers of tomorrow. With countless Community Investment projects across the UK, Co-op Travel Ethics proves it’s possible to do business in a way that’s good for everyone.
