Cooptravel.co.uk ethics take a completely different approach to public limited companies, with membership open to everyone. To get your Co-operative Membership card all you have to do is invest £1, which will be taken from your first share of the profits. After that, get spending! The more you spend, the more points you earn – not just from cooptravel.co.uk, but all the other co-operative outlets too, including food, pharmacy and energy. The award is generally one point per £1 spent, though with Co-op Travel it’s £2 per point. Twice a year, in December and June, your points value is converted to a voucher, which can be invested, cashed – or put towards the cost of your next holiday. If you’re wondering about Co-operative Travel ethics over foreign travel, there’s an option to turn it into a charity donation too.
