Here at the cooptravel.co.uk, ethics is at the heart of everything we do. We at Coop Travel are proud to say we have a long history of ethics and corporate responsibility. We are a subsidiary of The Co-operative Group, who in 2011 launched a new Ethical Operating Plan, with the goal of becoming the UK’s most socially responsible company.
Coop Travel ethics begin with our responsibility to the customer. All holidays booked through us at cooptravel.co.uk are ABTA and ATOL protected, giving you full financial protection should anything go wrong. This includes getting you home safely should you be stranded abroad, either by failure of an airline or tour operator, or natural disaster such as a volcano.
Coop Travel ethics also dictate that all information you give us is used primarily to arrange bookings, and to communicate our services to you. Detailed personal details (names, addresses, card details and so on) given to us at the cooptravel.co.uk are totally confidential, and will never be shared with third parties unless there’s a legal obligation to do so.
In order to improve our service, we may ask for further information, but you are under no obligation to provide it. Such information is never shared with third parties unless you give your permission to do so. Even then, we deal only with selected reputable organisations with the same code of ethics as ourselves.
In accordance with the 1998 UK Data Protection Act, all personal information you provide to us at cooptravel.co.uk is protected on secure servers, with data access limited to authorised colleagues. All we ask in return is that you keep your user ID and password safe.
Here at Coop Travel, ethics extends to social and environmental responsibility; we are committed to sustainable tourism. Thanks to voluntary charity donations collected with bookings, our Coop Travel ethics program is able to support sustainable tourism projects through The Travel Foundation, one of several charities we support. Our cooptravel.co.uk ethics plan also promotes rail holidays, lessening the impact of airlines on the environment.
